The US fashion house Marchesa will be the star of the Barcelona Bridal Night

The Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week Catwalk is set to dazzle the audience with more big names and an international presence

The Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (VBBFW) will become the epicentre of international bridal fashion with the participation of more brands and designers: for four days, more than 900 dresses from 36 fashion houses will be seen on the catwalk of the leading international week devoted to bridal fashion, eveningwear and cocktail dresses. In addition to the regular brands we have at the Barcelona event, this year there will be 13 houses such as Marchesa and The Atelier by Jimmy Choo that will be participating for the first time at the event to show buyers, media and guests from around the world their spring/summer 2020 collections.
Between 23 – 26 April, Hall 1 of the Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue, in Plaza de España, will be the main stage for the latest creations from 36 leading national and international houses, 13 more than in 2018, who will be presenting over 900 outfits from their collections that will set the trends in 2020 in dresses, eveningwear, cocktail dresses and accessories for both bride and groom.
The great brand leaders will be back, such as Pronovias, whose collection will close the catwalk show, and Rosa Clará, and Rosa Clará, who will present her collection in the Llotja de Mar in Barcelona; Jesús Peiró will open the catwalk event on Tuesday 23 April. Cristina Tamborero will follow; the Basque designer who won the “Best New Talent” award at the ELLE International Bridal Awards 2018; the Sophie et Voilà Collection; Italian Carlo Pignatelli, who participated for the first time last year; Isabel Sanchís; Marylise & Rembo Styling; Inmaculada García; Isabel Zapardiez; Ana Torres; Esther Noriega; Cymbeline; Marco & María; the Catalan designers YolanCris; Ramón Sanjurjo, with his new wedding attire collection for men; Carla Ruiz; Sonia Peña; and the US firm Demetrios.

Moreover, there are 13 brands taking part in the catwalk show this year for the first time, such as Marchesa, the US house whose designs have been a star attraction on the most important red carpets in the world, and The Atelier Couture, the Malaysian brand with its creative director, Jimmy Choo, already well known for his line of luxury shoes, who will display his new collection of bridal dresses at the VBBFW. Also noteworthy among this year’s new entries are the Americans Maggie Sottero and Mori Lee, the Israelite Flora, the Spanish Aire Barcelona, Fely Campo, Beba’s Closet, Sedomir Rodriguez de la Sierra; María Salas, and the Bulgarian Julia Kontogruni.
Moreover, for a second year, VBBFW is giving more visibility and space to new talents that will map the future of bridal fashion; it has organised the “New Talents” fashion show with the participation of six designers: the Italians Simone Marulli and Poesie Sposa, and the Spanish designers, Olga Macia, Chiffon Atelier, Mireia Balaguer and Lorena Panea.

Founded in 2004 by the designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, Marchesa is one of the most glamorous names in international fashion and a favourite of stars such as Viola Davis, Sofia Vergara, Blake Lively, Priyanka Chopra, Gwen Stefani, Rita Ora, Katy Perry, Scarlett Johansson, Cindy Crawford as well as the Spanish actresses Paz Vega and Silvia Abascal who have recently shown off Marchesa’s creations on the most important red carpets of the world. Marchesa has chosen the Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (VBBFW) 2019 for the exclusive presentation of their Marchesa Bridal Couture for the Spring 2020 season along with a selection of party dresses. It will be Marchesa’s first bridal fashion show in Europe with its dazzling creations to be seen in the Barcelona Bridal Night which will be held on the evening of 24 April.
400 brands in the trade fair
The last day of the catwalk show will coincide with the opening of the trade fair between 26 and 28 April, which will be hosted in the same Montjuïc venue and will include the designs of more than 400 brands, 70% of them from abroad, that will show the latest developments in the sector. In addition, according to forecasts, more than 21,000 professionals will visit VBBFW from all over the world, of which over 1,000 are key buyers, strategically selected and invited by the organisation. 60% of buyers come from more than 90 countries, mostly from Italy, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, China and Mexico, among others.
With the participation of these major fashion houses, the Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, organised by Fira de Barcelona, will once again become a global must-see event for the sector, reaffirming its reputation as a central hub of trends and the international market.
