The jury of the second edition of the ELLE International Bridal Awards delivered last night the awards to the 10 winning firms during a gala presented by the actress Rossy de Palma. The event was held within the framework of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week and has gathered more than 400 guests in the Auditorium of the Historical Building of the University of Barcelona.
The 10 awards of the ELLE International Bridal Awards 2018, organized by the ELLE magazine in collaboration with Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, were delivered yesterday during a gala ceremony that has gathered more than 400 guests among professionals, designers, businessmen and experts from the sector, both national and international. The awards, which this year were held in Barcelona after taking place in Milan in 2017, are the most prestigious bridal fashion awards in the world.
Alberto Zanoletti, fashion director of ELLE Italia, has presided over the jury composed by the directors of the ELLE magazine editions from Australia, Canada, China, South Korea, Germany, Japan, Hong Kong, Italy, Mexico, Spain, South Africa and Sweden, and 6 other bridal fashion experts, including Rossy de Palma, host and master of the evening’s ceremony.
The jury awarded the “Best Wedding Dress” award to the firm Reem Acra and Tiffany & Co. for the “Diamond Dress” dress from the “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” spring 2018 collection because “it fits the dream of a fairytale”, while the award for the “Best Bridal Collection” has been awarded to the firm Viktor & Rolf Mariage for the fall-winter 2018 collection presented at the New York catwalk last year. According to the judges, the creations of the firm are “unique as a work of art”.
The Italian Carlo Pignatelli, for his part, has received the award for “Best Groom Collection” for the designs of “The Sartorial Wedding Collection” thanks to “his sophisticated style that, after a trajectory of 50 years, revitalises fashion for the groom and reaches the dressmaking perfection.”
The award for the “Best Jewellery Collection” went to Cartier, for the Love Collection, “a classic collection that reinterprets symbols to offer more than just hearts.” The award to the “Best Parade” has been equally presented to Jenny Packham and Óscar de la Renta, for their spring 2018 collection parades held respectively in London and New York in 2017. “It was a difficult decision” commented the host, Rossy de Palma, “that finally could not end but in a draw”.
The bridal universe could not miss the prize for “Best Resort,” ideal destination for the honeymoon, which was received by the Beachcomber Mauricio Resort for offering a “luxurious and relaxing” atmosphere. The London professional, Bruce Russel, is also one of the winners, in his case in the category “Best Wedding Planner” for his elegant style and “for his ability to hold a wedding in many parts of the world.”
The Spanish firm Pronovias, which was already worthy of one of the Elle International Bridal Awards last year, has risen this time with the award for “Best Advertising Campaign” for “combining the passion for travel with the thrill of marriage.” And it was not the only national brand to receive the award: the Basque Sophie et Voilà has also been awarded with “Best New Talent” for her “unconventional style that exalts fashion with a special sensitivity towards brides.”
And finally, the Venezuelan designer and businesswoman based in New York, Carolina Herrera, has been given the award for “Best Professional Career.” According to the experts of the jury, her signature is “synonymous with elegance” and at the same time able to distinguish herself with a young, fresh and disruptive style.
The prizes have been personally collected by the winners, such as designer Reem Acra, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren from Viktor & Rolf, the Italian Carlo Pignatelli or Sofía Arribas and Saioa Goitia from Sophe & Voilà, among others, who have shared the stage with Rossy de Palma and other acknowledged professionals of the sector.
