The Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW) catwalk is about to turn on its spotlights and become the centre of global attention on bridal fashion between 25 and 28 April, when the fashion shows for its 27th edition will be held in Hall 2 at Fira de Barcelona’s Gran Vía site. Twenty-five top-level companies, three more than in past editions, will show their collections, and new brands will be unveiled, debuting at the most important bridal fashion week in Europe. At the international level, it will be attended by prestigious designers including Ángel Sanchez and Galia Lahav
The BBFW catwalk will be the main stage for all the latest from the 25 leading national and international companies, who will present their 2018 collections of wedding dresses and accessories, groom’s and occasion wear and communion outfits to industry operators and journalists from all over the world. Rosa Clarà will open the fashion shows on 25 April, to be followed on 26 April by St Patrick Studio of the Pronovias Fashion Group, making their world debut at BBFW; Jesús Peiró; Cristina Tamborero; Sophie et Voilà Collection (debuting at BBFW), YolanCris; Isabel Sanchís and Inmaculada García.
Thursday 27 will see Marylise & Rembo Styling; Isabel Zapardiez; Ana Torres; Raimón Bundó, celebrating the company’s 50th anniversary; Jordi Dalmau and Matilde Cano; Marco & María; Patricia Avendaño and the Israeli of Russian origin, Galía Lahav. The last day of the catwalk will star French designer, Cymbeline; Ramón Sanjurjo’s collection for men; the Americans Morilee Madeline Gardner and Demetrios, debuting at BBFW; Carla Ruiz; Sonia Peña and, as the finishing touch, the Pronovias fashion show.
‘The atmosphere at BBFW 2017 will be more cosmopolitan than ever’, says Estermaria Laruccia, the show’s director. ‘The attendance of top-level national and international companies positions BBFW on the world front row of these events, and its catwalk will, more than ever, be the global showcase in which creativity, art and design of the highest level in bridal fashion will shine.’
Barcelona Bridal Night
Among the major companies presenting their collections this year is Ángel Sánchez, the famous New York-based Venezuelan-born designer who is a favourite of celebrities like Beyoncé, Meryl Streep, Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek and Giselle Bündchen. He will present his first fashion show in Europe as part of Barcelona Bridal Night, the show’s gala evening that will take place on Wednesday, 26 April, at the Palau de Pedralbes. There will be plenty more activities, such as the soirée offered by Rabat – the official jeweller for BBFW – at their premises at Paseo de Gracia in Barcelona, which will star the famous Israeli designer, Galia Lahav.
The trade fair will coincide with the catwalk when it opens on 28 April and run until 30 April. This year, the trade fair will feature more than 300 brands, 65% international from 25 countries, and 78 participating for the first time. Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, organised by Fira de Barcelona, will also receive more than 18,000 visitors and 800 strategic buyers, a 15% increase over 2016, from 70 countries that have been contacted directly by the organisers.
