The trade fair boosts the bridal fashion market revival

BBFW 2022 closes an edition marked by optimism and business

Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2022 closes this afternoon the doors of an edition that has meant the reunion of the international bridal fashion industry and has contributed to the reactivation of the market after a complex period. The celebration of events such as the Bridal Night, starring the world’s first fashion show of the bridal line of the haute couture firm Viktor & Rolf, has completed the BBFW offer, which has reaffirmed itself as the world’s leading bridal fashion event.

BBFW, organised by Fira de Barcelona with the support of the Departament d’Empresa i Treball de la Generalitat de Catalunya, has presented the fashion shows of 34 designers and the offer of more than 320 firms, 75% international, attracting an audience that a few hours before the closing of the show has reached more than 18,600 visitors, 65% from abroad. The event was also attended by 1,170 national and international strategic buyers, directly invited by the organisers (key buyers).

For its part, the BBFW Digital Experience digital platform, which will continue to operate until 20 June, has had 40,000 views of content since the start of the event to date.

Barcelona Bridal Night
Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, the designers and creators of the renowned haute couture brand Viktor&Rolf, presented the world’s first fashion show of their Mariage bridal collection exclusively in Barcelona during Bridal Night, the gala evening of the show. According to Horsting and Snoeren, the catwalk debut of their bridal line had to be at BBFW because “Barcelona is the Paris of bridal fashion”. The firm also participated in the trade fair by sharing the ‘Showroom Area’, the area of the show reserved exclusively for major international brands, with the Lebanese Tony Ward and Zuhair Murad, Jenny Packham (United Kingdom) and Peter Langner (Italy).

According to Estermaria Laruccia, director of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, “It has been an edition marked by optimism, business and the desired reunion of professionals from the world of bridal fashion. The event has helped to boost trade activity at a key time and will continue to support national and international brands and buyers through the BBFW Digital Experience app”.

The week dedicated to bridal, groom, party and accessories fashion will return to Fira de Barcelona from 19 to 23 April 2023 to present the 2024 collections of bridal fashion brands.
