For the first time the United States will be there as guest country

Barcelona Bridal Week 2015 is celebrating its 25th anniversary with its most international edition yet

Barcelona Bridal Week will close its quarter of a century in the front row of bridal fashion with its most international edition yet, with the United States as guest country, a new programme to attract VIP buyers and special celebratory events. From 5 to 8 May, 2016’s trends will be taking to the catwalk in the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via venue, with fashion shows from the industry’s 20 biggest labels, followed by the trade show until 10 May, where more than 200 brands, 50% international, will showcase their new collections to buyers and professionals from all over the world.

The 25th edition of Barcelona Bridal Week will be building a bridge between the United States and Europe to turn Barcelona into the world capital of bridal fashion, bringing together trends, designers, buyers and retailers from the United States who will share backstage, catwalk and show with the main Spanish bridal industry brands, which are a worldwide success.

Once again, Europe’s bridal industry benchmark will become the global showcase for bridal design, with the scheduled participation of over 20 labels of international prestige on the catwalk and more than 200 at the show to present officially their collections for the upcoming season—which translates into over 12,000 gowns—to buyers, the media and guests from all over the world.

Therefore, the Fira de Barcelona organisation is working on a special programme to attract top-quality international buyers and opinion leaders in order to facilitate promotion and business meetings among international buyers from over 80 countries and leading companies in design, quality and with high export potential in the industry, who will be sharing their latest trends in bridal gowns, groomswear, ceremonies, receptions, Communions and accessories.

Barcelona Bridal Week has also prepared some surprises and special events for this edition to celebrate its 25 years as an international event for the bridal universe that is not to be missed.

As such, the upcoming edition of Barcelona Bridal Week will be the event’s silver wedding anniversary celebration, which, in the words of its Director, Miquel Serrano, ‘will promote its internationality to contribute to the overall success of the industry, one of the strongest in the Spanish economy,’ adding that, ‘this commitment can be seen in the initiatives to promote and draw in large buyers carried out not only in the United States but also in Italy, France, Germany, the UK, Portugal, Russia, Brazil, Latin America and the Middle East, all focus markets of the exhibiting brands in light of their high business potential.’

New show president

In further news, and coinciding with this new era, Barcelona Bridal Week has named Marta Raich president of the event. She is the director of Novia d’Art, one of the industry’s key labels in Spain, with over 40 years of history and extensive export experience. For Ms Raich it ‘is an honor to preside over an event that is already a European industry benchmark’, and she highlights that ‘in this edition we will be celebrating 25 years of the event, which means that BBW not only has a past, is a hallmark and represents experience, but that it also has a future, is innovation and represents opportunities. In this sense, BBW is the initial showroom, the starting point for the season, where exhibitors can find a very versatile public, whether in terms of origin or style, and test the potential of their collections and portfolios.’ She concludes, ‘The future of the bridal Made in Spain label involves a blend of creativity and innovation in design, artistry in creation and competitiveness in the production and sale of our dresses’.

Raimon Bundó, president up until now, will hold the honorary presidency of BBW.

From 5 to 10 May 2015 the bridal show will be back to make Barcelona the world capital of wedding fashion.
