The leading bridal fashion event highlights the keys to success in the industry

Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, set to conquer new horizons with talent and innovation

BBFW (Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week), the international flagship event for bridal fashion, will broaden its horizons and set out to conquer the emerging markets, where western-style dresses, accessories for brides and grooms and ceremonies are becoming must-buys. With the innovation, design and high-quality of the leading trendsetting firms, the input of new talent and the new business models applicable to bridal fashion, BBFW will display the collections for the 2020 season on the catwalk and at the fair. Thus, the fair will once again be the showcase where visitors can get a glimpse of the fashions for the forthcoming season, as it is a point of reference and a source of inspiration for the industry.

From 23 to 28 April, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week will once again turn the Catalan capital city into the epicentre of the latest trends in fashion, creativity and prêt-à-couture in the bridal industry, attracting entrepreneurs, designers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and buyers from all over the world.

As a Spanish international fashion event, BBFW will further enhance promotion abroad by focusing on the USA and Latin America, as well as on the Asian markets, paying particular attention to China, due to its great commercial potential, and to Japan, as this country is a benchmark and a trailblazer in terms of trends in the Far East. Italy, France, Germany, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Russia and other countries in Eastern Europe will also be targets for the internationalization strategy of this event, organized each year by Fira de Barcelona.

BBFW Director Estermaria Laruccia is convinced that the fair’s desire to explore new countries and thus create a bridge between Barcelona and the rest of the world shows that, each year, BBFW, is an important asset for the industry and its brands. “We’re pioneers in identifying trends, presenting new products and business models and attracting growth opportunities for all the companies that attend each fair. The results demonstrate this and encourage us to continue creating the best business, networking and fashion setting for the brands in the bridal industry”, states Laruccia.

Last year BBFW attracted more than 21,000 professional visitors from 90 countries and brought together 370 firms, 70% of them from outside Spain.

Breaking away from stereotypes
This year BBFW will once again break moulds with a renewed image, empowering women and everyone wishing to reaffirm their personality to feel unique. As Estermaria Laruccia, BBFW Director, explains: “BBFW is different, its format is unique and we have broken away from all the stereotypes surrounding the world of bridal fashion without losing our essence. We’re non-conformist and we’re passionate about creativity while being a bit daring, just like the generation of this new era, like the women involved in this industry, like the designers who dress our catwalk and like the fair’s exhibitors, and this makes us do our best to come up with new ideas, opportunities and horizons for fashion”. And, why not, we’re launching a challenge to all those who form part of this world: conquer the extraordinary with us”.

The first four days, from 23 to 26 April, will be for the fashion shows to put their collections for the forthcoming season on display, while the trade fair will be held at Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc venue from 26 to 28 April, bringing the exhibitors into contact with buyers and promoting business and networking in the international arena.
