Houghton, the US label that was the star guest of the 2015 edition, is back at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW) this year to present its latest creations. This year, the participation of well-known international labels has increased with the inclusion of top celebrity designer Galia Lahav, who will be showing her bridal collection. The event will also be attended by over 350 key buyers, primarily from the USA, France, Germany, Italy and the UK, to view the catwalk shows of 24 top labels and discover the offering at the trade show, featuring more than 260 Spanish and international brands.
The 2016 edition of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week kicks off with the catwalk shows of 24 Spanish and international labels between April 26th and 29th in Hall 8 of Fira de Barcelona’s Montjuïc exhibition center in Barcelona. This is followed, from April 29th to May 1st, by the trade show featuring the creations of over 260 brands that already occupy the entire exhibition space, half of them international, especially the United Kingdom, the United States and France, which will fill the entire exhibition space with their collections of men’s and women’s bridal wear, ceremony dresses and accessories for the 2017 season.
This year, the twenty-sixth edition of the show continues its commitment to internationalization. In this respect, Houghton, the US bridal fashion label acclaimed by the press and professionals alike, which took part last year for the first time as the guest star, is back at the Barcelona show. According to its designer, Katherine Polk: After the warm welcome and success of our show in 2015, we are excited to take part in BBFW again. The event was really interesting for our brand considering the market it represents. It was an honor to be included. Houghton will be presenting 30 outfits from the Fall 2016/Spring 2017 season on the catwalk and showing some of its most iconic creations in an exhibition.
Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week continues to roll out its strategy to attract not only designers but also key buyers, journalists and distributors from the USA with the aim of consolidating its commercial relations with the country, unquestionably one of the world’s most powerful markets and a driver of trends on a global level.
Galia Lahav takes part for the first time
Another exciting new feature of this edition will be the presence of Galia Lahav, one of the most prestigious labels in the haute couture universe specializing in bridal and ceremony dresses. Throughout its 30-year history, Galia, the label’s designer and creator, has dressed Hollywood icons such as Jennifer López, Australian model Dani Lawrence and singer Jana Kramer to make them shine at the altar or on the red carpets of the world.
The stylist, originally from Russia and now settled in Tel Aviv (Israel), has over 40 stores across the world. Her creations have an unmistakable style that combines the latest fashion trends with exceptionally luxurious detailing. She will be presenting her collection of bridal dresses at Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week known as “N.2 of GALA by Galia Lahav”, featuring an urban, romantic style. She will also be showing these new outfits and the “N.1 of GALA by Galia Lahav” collection on her stand at the trade show.
More than 350 international key buyers
With the aim of supporting companies in their search for new business opportunities in different countries and hence boosting their international promotion, Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week 2016 has set in motion again the ‘Hosted Guest Program’ based on direct contacts with the most important key buyers in the sector. Thanks to this campaign, the show will be attended by more than 350 buyers from the USA and Europe, primarily the UK, Italy, France and Germany, which this year head up the list of target countries for the trade show due to the huge potential of their markets.
In this respect, the show’s director, Estermaria Laruccia, believes that maintaining a solid internationalization strategy is essential to position the event on the front row of bridal fashion and turn Barcelona into the most cosmopolitan capital of “prêt-à-couture” in this sector. To achieve our goal, we boast the perfect combination: on the one hand, the excellent reputation that the Spanish bridal fashion sector enjoys worldwide, and, on the other, the sheer charisma of the Barcelona brand.
