Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week (BBFW), the world’s leading bridal fashion show organised by Fira de Barcelona, has as its new director Albasarí Caro, a professional in the industry with a long and successful career in ready-to-wear and bridal fashion companies, where she has worked especially on their internationalisation and expansion.
Caro holds a BA in Political Science from Florida International University and an MA in Communications from the American University in Washington D.C. During her career she has led the growth and opening to new markets of several fashion companies such as Bimba & Lola, Mango, Grupo Cortefiel (Tendam) and Pronovias, where she has been responsible for the expansion of the international franchise network for the last 10 years.
Jesús Díez Bertriu, president of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week and CEO of the firm Jesús Peiró, has expressed his “satisfaction at her joining the team, as she brings experience and a deep knowledge of the entire sector worldwide, and will undoubtedly boost the internationalisation of the event, the brands and the business“. He adds, “We welcome her and at the same time thank Estermaria Laruccia, who has been the driving force behind BBFW’s global leadership for the last seven years”.
For her part, Caro says she is “very excited to embark on this new stage as director of the world’s leading bridal fashion event, with the aim of continuing its international expansion and its contribution to the development of a sector that, beyond business, connects with creativity, innovation, art, culture, diversity, sustainability, and, ultimately, the way we live”.
BBFW 2023, full steam ahead
Thus, Albasari Caro, takes the helm of the Fira de Barcelona team that has already begun to prepare the next edition of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, which will take place between 19 and 23 April 2023 at the Montjuïc venue. In its 2022 edition, it hosted the fashion shows of 34 designers and the offerings of more than 320 firms, 75% of them international, attracting an audience of more than 18,600 visitors, 65% from abroad. BBFW featured the participation of the firm Viktor & Rolf, which exclusively presented the first world parade of its bridal collection along with other major domestic and international brands.
