A winter fairy tale

Getting married in winter certainly has a special charm. The splendour created by the blanket of snow, the warmth of the fire, the festive atmosphere of the lights and the upcoming anniversary make a unique and dream-like scenery.

The high-necked or long-sleeved dresses are very elegant and outerwear should never be missing; be it a shrug in wool, a coat in cashmere or a faux fur”, and the “snow princess” effect will soon flourish.

More and more weddings are celebrated in the cold season and even in the past there have been solemn and unforgettable ones.
These include the Queen of England Elizabeth II who in 1947 married Prince Philip (celebrating 72 years of union last November) with a dress in Scottish satin, embroidered with crystals and 10,000 pearls.

Or before her, Queen Victoria, who on 10 February, 1840, got married to Prince Albert. For the first time, for a royal wedding a completely white dress was worn instead of the damasks with gold and silver threads usually used by nobles to give luster to their role.

In more recent times, the fairytale wedding of Andrea Casiraghi (son of Carolina of Monaco) and Tatiana Santo Domingo dressed in a lace dress with mini flounced skirt accompanied by a long cloak with hood both designed by Valentino. The heavy snowfall made the highly trained two-man ceremony even more fascinating.

Also fashionable among VIPs, the winter wedding has found a big fan in Elisabeth Taylor who celebrated 3 of his 8 marriages during the coldest months. Thus Marylin Monroe, married to Joe di Maggio on 14 January, 1954 wearing a chocolate suit with an ermine neck and Audrey Hepburn, wife of psychoanalyst Andrea Dotti in January 1969.

To date, a series of actresses and singers such as Sophie Hunter, Cameron Diaz, Miley Cirus, Priyanka Chopra and many others, have chosen to celebrate the most important day in a very original season, the last in order of time the actress Nicoletta Romanoff that the last November 23 he said yes to Federico Alverà, wearing a magnificent dress by Luisa Beccaria Couture accompanied by an embroidered wool shawl.
